Latest Review by: Bill Rosencrans – Author of “Dakota: A Work in Progress” (Fun short stories about a golden retriever named, Dakota,) “Dakota: Still A Work in Progress,” and “Lime in the Coconut.”

“The Face in the Window – A Guide to professional Dog Walking” and “Out, Standing in My Field – A Guide to Home Boarding” are two books in one, and what a joy they are to read. This is not your average “How To” book. Not by a long shot. This is a look into the life of Dianne Eibner, an extraordinary individual who has devoted her life to sharing her unbridled love for each and every dog that is in her care. This book has more useful ideas than you could begin to imagine. Only someone who truly loves dogs as much as Dianne could come up with so many hints and ideas that make the dog walking experience infinitely easier. There are hundreds of them, and I have no doubt in my mind that the dogs she cares for do sit in the window awaiting her arrival.
Despite going way, way, over the top to care for the dogs she walked, and to keep her customers satisfied, she encountered just about every obstacle imaginable, and it wasn’t the dogs that were giving her the trouble. It was the people she had to deal with, from City Hall on down. It was the price Dianne had to pay before realizing her dream, which was moving to a sixteen-acre farm. This is the Jog-A-Dog farm where dogs are not only boarded, but made privy to a little slice of heaven on earth, not just for the dogs but for Dianne as well.
It was a warm, insightful read. I absolutely loved it!

Hi Dianne,
We just wanted to get in touch with you after reading your book. We have enjoyed it immensely!
Having our own dog walking service and dog boarding here in Amsterdam it was so much fun and at the same time informative to read your experiences, which we found were almost the same as what we went through and what we are still experiencing today. We have similar funny stories, experienced people trying to bring us down, not taking us seriously, similar experiences with employees & dogs… It was like reading our story! But as you say, the joy the dogs give us makes it all worth our while and it really is a lifestyle. So thank you for writing your book, it makes us feel we are not alone here :)
We have ordered a bunch of copies to give to our dog walking team, we feel they can profit a lot from reading it.
Good luck with your business!

Dear Dianne,
Hi, our names are Olivia and Michaela. We have read your book several times and we found it quite interesting. We are teenagers right now but not yet 16 so we use our summers to dog walk. Your book has been the best guide. No other book had that kind of experiences in them. You sound like you’re very wise and know a lot so we took your advice on everything and find it works. Your clients are lucky to have you as there professional dog walker. The reason we are emailing you is because we want to thank you for writing the book. It helped us a lot and I’m sure it helped others too. So… THANKS!
Sincerely,
Michaela and Olivia!

Hello Dianne,
I’ve almost finished your book and I’ve been underlining and I’m going to take some notes as well.
The stories you say about people pestering you for being a dog walker are a bit scary but luckily I haven’t had any such experiences myself.            I found it pretty scary actually. Where I live (in Luxembourg) dog walking as a profession is really new
(five years or so) , and I must be the third or fourth person to have started this kind of business (to my knowledge).

The book is packed with great advice from someone who has done the job for two decades and I think writing this book was a great idea.

I also like the ‘home boarding’ section. I tried to look for a book for home boarding but I couldn’t find anything and when your book arrived I
was delighted to find out that it was included in the book!
My little dog walking business is called walkies walkies and my website link www.walkieswalkies.com! I’m a pretty new dog walker but I work all
the time and I’m always trying to learn more and more.

Ok then thanks again for all the great advice and for helping to make my business more professional and to make the pets under my care be in
safer hands.

I will keep you posted with developments!
Kind Regards,
Stephen

Hi Dianne
Just wanted to let you know that I received your book in the mail a few days ago! I started reading it right away & have enjoyed it immensely!! I am considering starting a dog walking service here in Branson ~southwest Missouri. So your book has been so informative! I have an English Bulldog & a Rat Terrier Mix that I walk twice (sometimes three) a day! I enjoy every minute of it & I love animals & especially dogs. After reading some of your book, I realize that it is a big responsibility, but can be so rewarding!
Thanks Again!!

Hi Dianne,

Just finished your book and wanted to let you know that it was the final piece in the puzzle for my wife and I. Susan works for the local school system here in upstate NY and I recently sold my business and have decided to start dogwalking/boarding in the next few months. We’re animal lovers (we currently share our home with two Labs, one Pug and a 10 year old Persian Cat.) and have been toying with the idea of starting our own pet care business and after reading your book, we’ve decided to go for it. Thanks for a very informative and enjoyable read!!!

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I had no idea that it would be you who responded to my e-mail. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your book “The Face In The Window”. I’ve read it 4 times in 2 weeks! As I go about setting up my dog walking business, I’m sure I will refer to your book many times for inspiration and good advice. My company is called “Kecy & Kompany Dog Walking Service”. I named it after my own dog (20 month old Goldendoodle named Kecy) who is the inspiration behind my decision to become a professional dog walker. She’s the love of my life and has taught me many life lessons, such as living in the moment. I hope to have a website set up soon.

Thanks again for your help!

Sincerely,

Dianne,

I just finished your book and I loved it! It was so insightful. I’ve already ordered myself a fishing vest for my future endeavour as a dogwalker. There were so many practical and commonsensical ideas in your book, I had so many eureka moments (of course, of course, why didn’t I think of that?!)

Your book (forgive the pun) is dog-eared and highlighted all over. I will have to read it again. I can’t wait to emulate your life.

My love for my two bichons dominates my life. So too, my love for animals, esp dogs. They have inspired this new direction in my life.

Dianne,

Thanks so much for the information on the insurance and a lead on who to speak to.

I also received and read your book. I found the information very useful. Your path in life reflects how I would like to proceed – I even lived in the Beaches at one time!

All the best to you,

“…Ms. Eibner describes all the plusses, the negatives, the how-to of dog walking, home boarding, day-care, and night-care…”“…This book can serve as a sound and sensible guide for any type of pet care business… …After 16 years in the business she has come across just about every possibility and has it covered…”“…This book really takes the guesswork out of starting a pet-care business…”

“…Ms. Eibner, I feel after reading her book, is one of those special souls who has an unusual connection to animals. True, she has attended dog behaviour and training workshops, but I feel she has a lot of animal knowledge that is almost instinctive. She is one of those special people who seems to be able to “talk” dog…”

Dianne,I got your book in the mail this morning and couldn’t put it down – read it cover to cover. You gave such valuable information in such a humourous and touching way – THANK YOU. It has and will help me very much in starting my own dog walking business.

Dear Dianne,

Thank you very much for send me your book, “A Guide to Professional Dog Walking”. The book was everything I hoped it to be, plus more. I just received it today and have already completed the book. It was just too darn hard to put down, although I had to a few times, since I was at work.

I found your book to be very informative, seeing as I would like to start my own business, especially the parts regarding the public making false accusations and the police event. I guess people are jealous since you have a job doing what you love! I had to hold back the tears while reading about Cindy and Snow, which unfortunately is inevitable, but we all try not to think about the day our beloved companions will leave us.

I now have a greater perception and understanding of what this profession entails, which has helped me in a tremendous way. Thank you again, your book was very entertaining!

Yours truly,

April Demerah.

Hi Dianne,
I picked up your book last night and read most of it. VERY GOOD!!! Excellent, useful information for a beginner. Tough job though, huh? Especially for YOU in the winter. Cold Canada, but then again, NJ ain’t too warm in January either. I have a Nissan Quest mini- van and I took out the middle seat for my dog. That should be enough space for a few more pooches!
And you say that you work even if you’re sick. Good idea about getting help at the park while you ” sneeze ” ;)…….. One problem here in my county in NJ is off leash dog parks. They just opened one last week. 17.5 miles from my house though. It’s $10.00 a year to take your dog there. Maximum 2 dogs per visit. I gotta figure out how to handle this problem. Because I’d really like to let my customers’ dogs off leash if they’re able, not just walk them ON leash… Hmmmmmm….. I’ll think of something!
Thanks again,Michael.

Dianne

Your book arrived at 8am yesterday morning and I took it upstairs and spent three hours in bed sandwiched between two dogs and my seven year old son. The 13yr is too cool for cuddles. I loved it, related to so much of it and learnt stuff too.
